“The frame comes together. From here, it becomes a real kamakura.”

The framework that was delivered in Episode 2 is finally assembled in Episode 3.This is the moment when simple building materials begin to transform into the recognizable shape of a kamakura.
Once this stage is complete, the project truly starts to feel real.

More Important Than It Looks: Balance
The frame of a kamakura is designed with more than just appearance in mind.It must account for the weight of the snow, the movement of people inside, and overall comfort.
Even a slight misalignment can greatly affect the next step—piling on the snow—so this assembly process is one of the most delicate and nerve-racking stages each year.
That said, watching the structure take shape is incredibly exciting and makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Next Up: Piling on the Snow
With the framework complete, the winter scenery will quickly begin to take form.
In Episode 4, we move on to the next step: piling on the snow.As the frame is covered in white, the kamakura will finally reveal its full appearance.
Completion is scheduled for mid-January.This year again, we plan to enjoy Kamakura Jingisukan inside the finished kamakura.
Please look forward to the next episode!
