Taisho GlassとはA Brand That Delivers Glass Experiences in Otaru

“May this glass bring a smile to someone.”

Glass born from the scenery of Otaru

reflects light and the seasons, gently touching the heart as small, delicate works.

No two pieces are ever the same,

each infused with the breath and wishes of its maker.

Taisho Glass is a specialty brand based in Otaru, dedicated to sharing the魅力 of glass craftsmanship.
Through glass works created by artisans’ hands, we convey the warmth of glass and the thoughts of its makers.

What Taisho Glass values most

私たちは、硝子を「飾るもの」や「使うもの」だけでなく、
日々の暮らしにそっと寄り添う存在だと考えています。
手に取ったときの温度や重み、光の揺らぎまで含めて、
ひとつの体験として届けたいと願っています。

Because we want you to take home not only the glass, but also the air of Otaru and the spirit of its artisans.

At Taisho Glass, we value not what you see on a screen,
but the sparkle you feel the moment you hold it in your hands.

The depth of color, the shimmer of light, the weight and the warmth.
These qualities reveal their true beauty only in the air of Otaru.

That is why we have chosen not to sell our glass online.
We want to protect those once-in-a-lifetime encounters—
moments when you casually step in during your travels, meet a piece of glass, and feel your heart move.

We hope that the glass you take home carries with it
the light at the storefront and the breath of the artisans who created it.
With that wish in mind, we look forward to welcoming you in Otaru today.

Stores Each with Their Own Unique Worldview

At Taisho Glass, each of our stores has its own unique theme and worldview.
Although all are made of glass, each location offers a different experience and encounter.
We invite you to explore them as you stroll through the streets of Otaru.

Otaru Glass

Otaru’s glass culture began with the production of oil lamps and fishing float glass balls,
and has been nurtured alongside the town’s history as a port city.

Taisho Glass Pavilion
carries on this legacy while conveying the appeal
of glass to the present day through the ideas of “making,” “using,” and “experiencing.”
