Service Description

The �Tonbodama Experience� at Taisho Glass is a popular hands-on activity where you can experience Otaru�s unique glass culture while creating a one-of-a-kind original glass bead. Even first-time participants can enjoy the experience with confidence, as our staff provides careful support throughout the process. [STEP 1] Choose a Pattern Select your favorite design from a wide variety of patterns such as stripes, marble, and polka dots. [STEP 2] Choose Glass Colors Choose freely from dozens of color variations and create your own unique combination. [STEP 3] Making the Tonbodama (Approx. 15 minutes) Molten glass is wound around a metal rod and shaped while adding patterns. Our staff will guide you step by step, making the experience safe and enjoyable for everyone�from elementary school children to adults. [STEP 4] Slow Cooling (Approx. 40 minutes) After crafting, the glass is slowly cooled over approximately 40 minutes. During this time, feel free to browse the shop or enjoy sightseeing nearby. [STEP 5] Pickup Please pick up your piece after 40 minutes or by the closing time of 7:00 PM. If you would like your item shipped to your home, additional shipping fees will apply. --- [Required Time] Crafting: approx. 15 minutes / Cooling: approx. 40 minutes [Age Requirement] Elementary school age (1st grade) and above (Beginners are welcome) --- The finished tonbodama bead can be made into accessories such as straps or necklaces. This experience is highly recommended for those who want to keep a memory of Otaru glass or enjoy a hands-on activity in a short amount of time.

Advance reservations are not available for the Tonbodama (glass bead making) experience. Participants are accepted in order of arrival at the shop on the day of your visit.
